Frequently Asked Questions

  1. I seem to be having diffuculty reaching any one when I call the club.

Many people may not know that KBC is a non profit organisation and runs by volunteerism, phone messages are responded to when a member of the executive is able to and as we are in the club at odd hours of the day and night it may take a few days to get back to you. But please be assured that someone will respond.

  2. When can I drop in to the club to play?

Drop in times are restricted to when there are club members in the club unfortunately this somewhat restricts what drop in times are available. We suggest that the best times to come and try out the club is between 7:30pm and 9:00pm Monday and Thursday these nights are club nights and you will be able to mix in with many levels of players. Tuesday night we offer a ladder which will let you see a wide range of members and play. You will be put in to a group of 4 or 5 and play set matches. The birds are supplied at a cost of $3.00 please come at 7:15 as play starts at 7:30 and that will give us time to get you set up. As a drop in you will not be allowed to remain in the club without a member present.

  3. Do you supply raquets and birds?

You will be expected to supply your own racquet, approved indoor court shoes and birds. If playing in the evening the members play with feather birds. We do have some used court shoes available to use till you can buy your own.

As a member of KBC it is up to you if you choose to be a member of Badminton BC and pay the $15 fee. If you choose to play in sanctioned tournaments Badminton BC requires you to be a member. KBC offers both sanctioned and non sanctioned tournaments.

  7. When I become a member what is the charge when I bring in a guest?

Members of KBC are encouraged to bring in guests. There is a $5.00 Adult ,$3.00 Junior drop in fee that must be paid prior to beginning play, you must also sign your guest in to our guest book in the lobby in order for your guest to be covered by our insurance. Please ensure your guest brings in their court shoes and follows all the club rules.

  8. What do I do when I find a racquet that has been left behind on the wall?

From time to time members forget to take their racquet home with them. If you are the last one in the club and find a racquet we ask that you leave it on the wall and let a member of the executive know about it. These racquets have been forgotten they are not left on the wall for any one to use so please don't just take them and put them in your bag it does belong to one of your fellow members.
